Enrichment registration for Spring 2013 is now open!

The first day of classes is February 20th, at our new Brookline location . Please note that all classes are now 12 weeks instead of 10.

As we have done in the past, families have the option of either working parent jobs or paying the opt-out fee to benefit the scholarship fund. Many of the details surrounding parent jobs have changed, and you can read the full updated policy here . Like always though, each family must do two parent jobs if they are there all day, and one if they attend half a day (teachers are exempt). Please note on your registration the types of jobs you would be interested in: set up, clean up at lunch or end of day, lunchtime supervision, assisting in classes, organizing events, computer work, etc. Please let us know if you have special skills or talents that could benefit PALS.  You can also add the opt-out fee(s) to your cart if you are choosing not to do a parent job.

If you are in need of financial assistance, please visit our Scholarship and Financial Aid policy page to explore the options as our programs have changed extensively since last term. The deadline for both programs is February 15th.

If you have questions about what to expect in a particular class, are enrolling children with special needs that we should be aware of, or have any other enrollment questions, please contact Anita Hager a director@palsenrichment.org.  Problems with the website or registration system can be directed to webmaster@palsenrichment.org.

We are moving! After receiving a lot of positive community feedback, the Board has voted to move PALS to the school building located beside the Church of the Resurrection! We are confident that this will be a good move for Enrichment, and allow us to grow and better serve the community. Thanks to everyone who participated in this process.

Updated Enrichment Schedule: Because of the rescheduling of the Halloween party, the Enrichment calendar will be extended by one week, with the final two classes being held at the Church of the Resurrection, due to scheduling conflicts with the Wilkins Center. The address of the new location is 1100 Creedmoor Ave., 15226. The updated schedule is as follows:

November 28th - Enrichment Classes at Church of the Resurrection

December 5th - Enrichment Classes at Church of the Resurrection

December 12th - Share Fair from 11am-2pm at Church of the Resurrection

Set-up folks should plan on arriving at the same time as they normally do - and will be given new jobs that morning. Teachers should plan on being early to get situated in their classrooms. Classes will be posted by each door, with a master list being available at the entrance.

Since these next two weeks we will all be adjusting to a new location, we ask that all children be supervised when they aren't in classes. Kids should also NOT leave the building unless accompanied by an adult (teens can be given permission by their guardians to go walking during lunchtime).

Share Fair: As noted above, the Share Fair this year will be on Wednesday, Dec 12th. This will be a casual lunchtime potluck and social, along with displays and presentations from a number of classes. Any teachers who need stage time should contact Anita Hager.

Holiday Gift Shop: We are gearing up for a holiday gift shop for the last day of Enrichment this term. It will be like a yard sale where the kids can buy gifts for people on their holiday shopping lists. Proceeds will support Enrichment's Scholarship and Activities funds. Please bring in new or gently used items, like small toys, knick-knacks and decorations, household goods, or small handmade items that would make good gifts. Becky Ashkettle, Meg Reilly, Nikki Turner, and Anita Hager will collect items at Enrichment next Wednesday. If needed, you can bring items to donate on the day of the gift shop. We would also be grateful for wrapping paper, bows, riboons, and gift tags. Please speak to Becky if you are willing to volunteer at the shop; we will need adults or teens to check folks out or help wrap gifts. Thanks so much!

Come celebrate Halloween with your friends and visit our potential new site! There will be no Enrichment classes that day and costumes are encouraged. We will have pumpkin painting, cookie decorating, tours, non-candy trick-or-treating in the classrooms, a costume contest and a Chinese auction! Keep your eyes peeled for other events and activities to be announced shortly, as well as a full description of the raffle prizes.

Since the party is happening over lunch, we will have pizza from multiple local

businesses, including Gluten-free and Vegan pizza. If you are able to bring a snack or a drink to share, please do so, but it is not required. This event is open to all friends and family of the home education community in Pittsburgh...you do NOT have to be a current PALS member to attend!

Date: Wednesday October 31st, 2012
Time: 11am to 2pm
Location: Church of the Resurrection, 1100 Creedmoor Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15226 (in the school building, not the actual church...signs will be posted).

Hi Everyone,

Registration is in full swing, and to kick off the Enrichment term an Orientation has been planned to give us all a chance to visit with old friends and get to know the many newcomers who are signing up. We will first meet at the park for the "official" Orientation, where you can get all your paperwork out of the way while the kiddos play in the park or do the teenage hang out thing. If you'd like, bring a snack and/or park toy to share!

Afterward, anyone who wishes to can walk over to the Highland Pool. Swimsuits are required beyond the gate, so make sure everyone has one. If you don't have a Pittsburgh pool pass, the rates are $4 per adult and $3 per child. Please contact me if these fees would be a hardship, as we want to make sure everyone can swim with their friends.

Date: August 22nd (The Wednesday two weeks prior to the start of classes)
Where: Highland Park at the Pool Grove Shelter (right by the pool)
Time: 1:00 for Orientation at the park; 3:00 for Swimming

Hope to see you all there!
